Terri Rolland

Rolland resists the idea that her work might be beautiful. Nothing would be worse, in her view, than making paintings that are mere decoration. She aims to prod her audience into pondering their relationship to their physical environment and, in the best of all possible worlds, contributing to a shift in understanding of what beauty in art means. "I want to make things come to light . As artists, we've been trained to find balance. It's so hard to depict dissonance. But my goal is to get tougher and truer to that."

-Dottie Indyke for The Albuquerque Journal
